
Eight oxygen concentrators (OCs) were purchased at a total of over LKR 1.8 million, with each OC having a flow rate of 10 liters per minute, an oxygen concentrating capacity of 93%+/- 3% and a two year warranty. The entire project was initiated and led by the 8th batch of the NCMC, with procurement and supply chain coordinated by the Response Team.
Based on the information from the Faculty of Critical Care Medicine database and their WhatsApp group, eight hospitals in urgent need of OCs were identified. The OCs were delivered to the NCMCAA on 4 October 2021 and their distribution began on 5 October 2021. All OCs will be added to the inventory books of the respective hospital. Technicians conducted demonstrations in each of the eight hospitals. The first patient was put on, one of the OCs on the 6 October 2021.
